Psychological trauma refers to the emotional and psychological response to a distressing event or series of events that overwhelm an individual’s coping ability.

Trauma can be caused by various experiences, including abuse, neglect, violence, accidents, natural disasters, or losing a loved one.

The impacts and behaviors of psychological trauma can vary depending on the individual and the nature of their trauma.

If you have experienced psychological trauma, you might be experiencing the following:

  • Anxiety: hypervigilant and have constant feelings of anxiety and fear.
  • Depression: a sense of hopelessness and helplessness leading to guilt, shame, and depression.
  • Flashbacks and nightmares: intrusive memories, flashbacks, and nightmares related to your trauma.
  • Avoidance and isolation: avoid places, emotions, people, or situations that remind you of your trauma.
  • Emotional instability or numbness: intense and unpredictable emotions, such as anger or numbness/emptiness.
  • Self-destructive behaviors: self-destructive behaviors such as substance abuse, self-harm, or risky behavior.
  • Dissociation: you may feel disconnected from your emotions, body, or surroundings.

Trauma could also impact interpersonal relationships, such as difficulty trusting people or forming close relationships.

Testimonials
Words are not “pregnant” enough to express my sincere gratitude for helping me digest the traumas I’ve buried in the deepest recesses of my memories! You’ve helped me understand and move on from the horrible events, feelings, and thoughts of my childhood, adulthood, parenthood, and the loneliness of my twilight years! Thank you ever so much!

I have seen many therapists before but could not open up until I met Lili. During the second session with her, I was able to share my story. She helped me face my past trauma and heal from the wounds it caused. I am looking forward to what lies ahead in this journey.
